For this unit, students will interpret weather maps and eventually create their own interactive weather maps that will be used to teach their peers about weather and pressure systems.
Students identify ideal conditions for hurricane formation and conduct a mini-research project where they create a presentation about an assigned hurricane.
Students participate in a Jeopardy game to review material from the Earth Science Unit. Students will also participate in a fun STAAR review session where they create products using crafts and technology.
Students begin their space unit where they will explore theories of the origin of our universe. Students also create spectroscopes that they will use to explore the behavior of light waves.
Students explore how scientists use different types of waves to judge distances in space. Students begin their space unit project by choosing their teams and and conducting preliminary research on planets that could potentially host human life.
Students create an interactive poster using a technology called Makey-Makey. Their posters include the information they researched on their planets. They will eventually use this information to create space rovers.
